Changing the Transmission filter is one of the least looked at maintenance items that are overlooked.  The biggest killer of transmissions is overheating most times due to dirty worn out oil.  Once a transmission oil is overheated it's life is greatly reduced.  spending 30 dollars and x number quarts of transmission fluid will save you big money in the future.  This Oil and filter change was done on my 2003 jeep tj with a 42lre transmission.
