This video shows an E40D transmission that has incurred some significant internal component damage. This transmission was out of a 96 f250. The e40d transmission is for the most part the same as the 4r100 transmission that ford used it their vans suvs and trucks from about 1992 to 2004. The transmission in this truck had the center support bearing failure. This center support bearing is critical to hold the forward and direct clutch drum in perfect concentricity to the transmission centerline. Failure to properly support these components will allow the drums to not seal properly on the sealing rings that feed the clutch drums resulting in slippage and failure of the clutches. We rebuilt this transmission in house. This allows us to calibrate the transmission controls and install upgraded components for greater durability and longevity. All for less than what a stock remanufactured transmission would have cost, saving the customer money and providing them with a superior transmission.
